GODHUNTER & SECRETS OF THE SKY Tour Documentation Posted; Further Details On Split LP Confirmed

Having just completed a co-headlining tour of the lower southwestern realms of America together, Oakland’s SECRETS OF THE SKY and Tucson’s GODHUNTER have released a post-tour account of their journey together, documenting some of the pros, cons, and random insanity two independent acts sometimes encounter on such a venture, via tour sponsor, American Aftermath.

On the recent Southwest US trek, GODHUNTER and SECRETS OF THE SKY were mongering the limited-to-100 copies, tour-only, cassette-edition of a new split release between both acts. On this combined effort, entitled Ghosts, both bands supply brand new material, showcasing even further experimentation into each of their respective crafts, with forty minutes of material, including a crushing new opus from each band, as well as a haunting, thematic accompaniment bearing the “Ghosts” theme. Through a joint effort between GODHUNTER’s Battleground Records and THE EARSPLIT COMPOUND’s label division, THE COMPOUND, Ghosts will see a more substantial release on September 9th through a deluxe LP version. In construction now is a 180-gram black/white vinyl swirl vinyl edition — limited to three-hundred copies, each including a digital download coupon — in addition to digital release via both bands.

Following the official release of the Ghosts split, both SECRETS OF THE SKY and GODHUNTER will take part in Southwest Terror Fest III: The Western Front. Conceived and organized by members of GODHUNTER and other local musicians and venues, the upcoming third incarnation of the fest sees the biggest lineup yet overtaking four days in Tucson, Arizona, and this year includes performances by Neurosis, Sunn O))), Goatsnake, Pelican, -16-, The Body, Baptists, Obliterations, Primitive Man and tons more.

Both bands are also performing regionally throughout the Summer months with new shows planned and more being devised. Additionally, both GODHUNTER and SECRETS OF THE SKY are forging new recordings and releases for late 2014/early 2015 release.

GODHUNTER Confirms Split With Secrets Of The Sky In Conjunction With June Tour; Vinyl Edition Confirmed Via The Compound/Battleground

Tucson, Arizona’s GODHUNTER has confirmed an upcoming split release with their cohorts in Oakland, California’s Secrets Of The Sky, to be released in conjunction with their upcoming Western US tour together.

During the first two weeks of June, GODHUNTER will take their confrontational political sludge metal to the West Coast in support of their newly-released debut LP, City Of Dust, the announcement coming amidst an intense torrent of rave reviews of the album filtering in from all around the planet. The entire tour will be with Oakland’s progressive doom metal sextet, Secrets Of The Sky, beginning with both bands performing at the annual Doom In June Fest in Las Vegas June 6th and 7th, joining Novembers Doom, Christian Mistress, Acid Witch, Ides of Gemini, Demon Lung and more.

Now the bands confirm a new split recording being finalized for release in conjunction with the tour. Featuring dynamic, brand new material from both GODHUNTER and Secrets Of The Sky, the split EP will initially see a limited DIY release on cassette specifically for this collaborative tour in June. Then in September, a deluxe audiophile 10” vinyl version of the split will see a collaborative release between Earsplit’s The Compound label and GODHUNTER’s own Battleground Records, as with the City Of Dust album. Further details on both versions of the release will be made available in the coming days.

Following its release digitally and on CD in February, GODHUNTER’s City Of Dust will be available in a deluxe vinyl edition later this month, in a run of 300 copies on clear 180-gram vinyl with red splatter, poly-bagged with a black sleeve and full-color 12”x24” lyric/liner sheet and full-color jacket. Preorders for this edition are available via Earsplit Distro; all LP orders placed before May 1st will include a free copy of the album on CD. ENABLER: Early Single From Second LP Released Via MetalSucks; Preorders Available

As the final touches are being put on the highly anticipated second LP from ENABLER, La Fin Absolue Du Monde, the first single from this dynamic album to hammer the public, has been released via MetalSucks.

Another of ENABLER’s recordings to be inspired by the works of legendary horror/sci-fi director, John Carpenter – in this case, his 2005 episode of the Masters Of Horror series, Cigarette Burns — La Fin Absolue Du Monde was tracked with Shane Hotchstetler at Howl Street Recordings (Expire, Northless) and mixed by Steve Austin (Today Is The Day) at Austin Enterprises. A thirty-six minute battering of their most diverse and calculated material to date, the album is the result of the new stripped-down, three-piece lineup’s continuing drive to innovate their delivery. The album will be released on May 27th, just one day after ENABLER marks their debut invasion of the annual Maryland Deathfest.

One of the shortest and most volatile tracks on La Fin Absolue Du Monde, “Prey,” is now playing at longtime ENABLER fanatics, MetalSucks, stating of the song, “GET READY TO HAVE YOUR FACE RIPPED OFF,” then continuing, “MetalSucks is only-too-happy to give you your first taste of the album in the form of ‘Prey,’ sixty-six of the most intense seconds you will ever experience. RPGs are less destructive than this shit.”

The bold, comic-style artwork of La Fin Absolue Du Monde, designed by Chris Smith, will enshroud the album, coming together for release in a joint offensive between ENABLER’s cohorts at The Compound, who released the band’s Flies EP, and Creator-Destructor, who released the vinyl version of their Southern Lord-released debut LP, All Hail The Void. Already in manufacturing at the mighty Pirates Press, the vinyl version of La Fin Absolue Du Monde will come in two schemes based on the cover art colors; the Creator-Destructor version in a half-and-half Grey/Halloween Orange pattern, and The Compound version on grey wax with heavy Black/White/’Orange Crush’ splatter, each in runs of 250 copies in a wide-spine, high gloss jacket, and with a digital download code included. The CD will be housed with a high-quality, six-panel digipak.

ENABLER will hit the roads heavy in advance of and beyond the release of La Fin Absolue Du Monde, with a full run already locked down for this month, where they’ll sync up with The Compound labelmates, Cop Problem, on the opening night of the sixteenth annual New England Metal & Hardcore Festival, followed by several other shows together. Altogether, ENABLER will take on three weeks of dates on this run, immediately followed by another realm of touring which brings them back eastward on a tour to Maryland Deathfest 2014.
