ENABLER: Track From Inbound Second LP Now Crushing At Pitchfork

enblrtcl-80_web [photo by Luke Mouradian]

Pitchfork has just posted a stream of “Balance Of Terror,” the latest single to hit the streets from ENABLER’s impending second LP, La Fin Absolue Du Monde.

Spanning two years since their Southern Lord-released All Hail The Void debut LP, bridged by massive touring on three continents and two killer EPs, La Fin Absolue Du Monde showcases ENABLER delivering their most diverse, downcast anthems yet. Having taken their songwriting to the next level, the stripped-down new lineup executes some new tactics within the fourteen raging tracks, most notably on the newly-unleashed “Balance Of Terror.” Laying down an ultra-infectious mid-paced stomp infiltrated by paint-peeling guitar bends and a driving rhythm in a rocked out approach, the song is also the first in the band’s rapidly expanding catalog to feature a segment of ghostly, clean vocals from bassist/vocalist Amanda Daniels, a far cry from her usual backing roars.

The track is now playing in the newest installment of Pitchfork’s weekly Hell Awaits column, its accompanying write-up in part supplying, “’Balance Of Terror’ is the sixth track from the record, and this mid-paced stomper features clean vocals from bassist Amanda Daniels. It’s also got a bit of noise-rock influence, no coincidence since Today Is The Day’s Steve Austin mastered the record. With all this, ‘Terror’ hints at anthemic qualities.”

Find ENABLER’s “Balance Of Terror” at Pitchfork RIGHT HERE.

Lambgoat also recently dropped La Fin Absolue Du Monde’s “New Life” HERE, preceded by MetalSucks’ unleashing of “Prey” at HERE.

ENABLER just returned from their three-week tour which included a set at the New England Metal & Hardcore Fest alongside labelmates, Cop Problem, in addition to several other shows together, yet in only two weeks the trio takes off on an eastward run of dates including Pouzza Fest in Montreal followed by a set at Maryland Deathfest in Baltimore. Immediately afterward, ENABLER will lay down support for Eyehategod and Ringworm on a bruising, month-long US tour from the end of May through late June, beginning just one day after both ENABLER and Eyehategod release their brand new LPs. Arson Fest, The Fest 13 and tons of additional touring through 2014 is confirmed.

La Fin Absolue Du Monde will see release via The Compound and Creator-Destructor Records on May 27th. Currently in manufacturing at the mighty Pirates Press, the vinyl version will come in two schemes; the Creator-Destructor version in a half-and-half Grey/”Halloween Orange” pattern, and The Compound version on grey wax with heavy Black/White/”Orange Crush” splatter, each in runs of 250 copies in a wide-spine, uncoated jacket with a digital download code included. The CD will be housed with a high-quality, six-panel digipak. Preorders are available via The Compound HERE, via Creator-Destructor HERE, and digital preorders are live HERE.

ENABLER Unloads New Track At Lambgoat; US Tour With Eyehategod & Ringworm Confirmed

enabler-153web [photo by Luke Mouradian]

From amidst their currently ongoing North American tour out to the New England Metal & Hardcore Festival — set to perform tomorrow, Thursday, April 17th alongside labelmates, Cop Problem — and beyond, ENABLER has been confirmed as opening support for Eyehategod and Ringworm on a bruising, month-long US tour from the end of May through late June. The trek begins just one day after both ENABLER and Eyehategod release their brand new LPs and three days after ENABLER marks their debut performance at Maryland Deathfest.

ENABLER has also just been confirmed to take part in The Fest 13 gathering in Gainesville, Florida, running from October 31st through November 2nd and including Hot Water Music, Touché Amoré, Masked Intruder and dozens of other acts. This is just one of many new tour actions to be announced as the band will be on the road virtually nonstop all year in support of their impending second LP, La Fin Absolue Du Monde.

A thirty-six minute battering of ENABLER’s most diverse and calculated material to date, La Fin Absolue Du Monde was tracked with Shane Hotchstetler at Howl Street Recordings (Expire, Northless) and mixed by Steve Austin (Today Is The Day) at Austin Enterprises. Lambgoat has premiered a brand new track from the LP, in the form of its second track, “New Life.” Unloading an immense lyrical sense of dread, loss and confusion, yet bursting with a rush of driving energy, while ENABLER’s ability to pack hooks catchier than The Black Plague into each track holds true straight to the bitter end.

Stream “New Life” via Lambgoat now at THIS LOCATION.

Also hear the previously released “Prey” at MetalSucks RIGHT HERE.

La Fin Absolue Du Monde will see release via The Compound and Creator-Destructor Records on May 27th. GODHUNTER Confirms Split With Secrets Of The Sky In Conjunction With June Tour; Vinyl Edition Confirmed Via The Compound/Battleground

GODHUNTER_005 [photo by Andrew Weiss]

Tucson, Arizona’s GODHUNTER has confirmed an upcoming split release with their cohorts in Oakland, California’s Secrets Of The Sky, to be released in conjunction with their upcoming Western US tour together.

During the first two weeks of June, GODHUNTER will take their confrontational political sludge metal to the West Coast in support of their newly-released debut LP, City Of Dust, the announcement coming amidst an intense torrent of rave reviews of the album filtering in from all around the planet. The entire tour will be with Oakland’s progressive doom metal sextet, Secrets Of The Sky, beginning with both bands performing at the annual Doom In June Fest in Las Vegas June 6th and 7th, joining Novembers Doom, Christian Mistress, Acid Witch, Ides of Gemini, Demon Lung and more.

Now the bands confirm a new split recording being finalized for release in conjunction with the tour. Featuring dynamic, brand new material from both GODHUNTER and Secrets Of The Sky, the split EP will initially see a limited DIY release on cassette specifically for this collaborative tour in June. Then in September, a deluxe audiophile 10” vinyl version of the split will see a collaborative release between Earsplit’s The Compound label and GODHUNTER’s own Battleground Records, as with the City Of Dust album. Further details on both versions of the release will be made available in the coming days.

Following its release digitally and on CD in February, GODHUNTER’s City Of Dust will be available in a deluxe vinyl edition later this month, in a run of 300 copies on clear 180-gram vinyl with red splatter, poly-bagged with a black sleeve and full-color 12”x24” lyric/liner sheet and full-color jacket. Preorders for this edition are available via Earsplit Distro; all LP orders placed before May 1st will include a free copy of the album on CD. Preorder placement for the vinyl as well as and an arsenal of additional GODHUNTER merch can all be located HERE

“… one of 2014’s best albums. City of Dust is a structured and informed refusal of acceptance. In the sludge style, we rarely get this much substance.” – Heavy Planet

“…the eight component tracks of the 49-minute album come across with staggering intensity despite what’s usually a fairly grueling pace. It is as much a multi-chapter sludgecore manifesto as it is a collection of memorably-riffed songs… they’ve presented a multifaceted and passionate foundation from which to progress… City Of Dust is more than just a sludge record”. – The Obelisk

“…an intelligent, gritty, heavy beast and a force to be reckoned with… Godhunter’s brand of towering sludge is something to look out for in the future. 8/10” – American Aftermath

“…that rare album where the whole is greater than the sum of its influences… one impressive achievement.. 8.5/10.” – Global Domination

“…you really feel the nihilistic tone in every word…This album is heavy as an elephant’s balls.” – Echoes And Dust

“What Godhunter do have in spades is riffs… this is only the beginning.” – The Sleeping Shaman

“The subtitle for City of Dust is ‘A Conversation Between Hope and Despair,’ and these words encompass the album’s themes of fear, despair, confusion, and yes, even a dash of hope.” – About.com

“If the results sound as fresh as they do on this local act’s full-length debut, the genre has some vitality left in it.” – Tucson Weekly

ENABLER: Early Single From Second LP Released Via MetalSucks; Preorders Available

enabler-153web [photo by Luke Mouradian]

As the final touches are being put on the highly anticipated second LP from ENABLER, La Fin Absolue Du Monde, the first single from this dynamic album to hammer the public, has been released via MetalSucks.

Another of ENABLER’s recordings to be inspired by the works of legendary horror/sci-fi director, John Carpenter – in this case, his 2005 episode of the Masters Of Horror series, Cigarette Burns — La Fin Absolue Du Monde was tracked with Shane Hotchstetler at Howl Street Recordings (Expire, Northless) and mixed by Steve Austin (Today Is The Day) at Austin Enterprises. A thirty-six minute battering of their most diverse and calculated material to date, the album is the result of the new stripped-down, three-piece lineup’s continuing drive to innovate their delivery. The album will be released on May 27th, just one day after ENABLER marks their debut invasion of the annual Maryland Deathfest.

One of the shortest and most volatile tracks on La Fin Absolue Du Monde, “Prey,” is now playing at longtime ENABLER fanatics, MetalSucks, stating of the song, “GET READY TO HAVE YOUR FACE RIPPED OFF,” then continuing, “MetalSucks is only-too-happy to give you your first taste of the album in the form of ‘Prey,’ sixty-six of the most intense seconds you will ever experience. RPGs are less destructive than this shit.”

Unload “Prey” now RIGHT HERE.

The bold, comic-style artwork of La Fin Absolue Du Monde, designed by Chris Smith, will enshroud the album, coming together for release in a joint offensive between ENABLER’s cohorts at The Compound, who released the band’s Flies EP, and Creator-Destructor, who released the vinyl version of their Southern Lord-released debut LP, All Hail The Void. Already in manufacturing at the mighty Pirates Press, the vinyl version of La Fin Absolue Du Monde will come in two schemes based on the cover art colors; the Creator-Destructor version in a half-and-half Grey/Halloween Orange pattern, and The Compound version on grey wax with heavy Black/White/’Orange Crush’ splatter, each in runs of 250 copies in a wide-spine, high gloss jacket, and with a digital download code included. The CD will be housed with a high-quality, six-panel digipak.

Preorder the CD and The Compound version of the wax HERE, the CD and Creator-Destructor version of the wax HERE, all merch/physical copies through ENABLER directly HERE, and digital preorders are now at Bandcamp, HERE.

Additionally, Skeletal Lightning will be doing a cassette run of the album in a run of 250 on chrome quality, orange tapes with black imprinting, a full-color, two-sided jcard. Preorders are up HERE.

ENABLER will hit the roads heavy in advance of and beyond the release of La Fin Absolue Du Monde, with a full run already locked down for this month, where they’ll sync up with The Compound labelmates, Cop Problem, on the opening night of the sixteenth annual New England Metal & Hardcore Festival, followed by several other shows together. Altogether, ENABLER will take on three weeks of dates on this run, immediately followed by another realm of touring which brings them back eastward on a tour to Maryland Deathfest 2014.

DIE CHOKING Prepares To Shred Philly Stop Of Decibel Magazine Tour; Debut 7” Available For Preorder

diechoking_vitusheadbang

Annihilation is nigh, as the debut release from Philadelphia’s hypershredder trio, DIE CHOKING, prepares to break free from the internet’s restraints and into the human populous this week in a physical manifestation.

Featuring Paul J Herzog (ex-Total Fucking Destruction) on bass/vocals, Joshua T. Cohen (Cop Problem) on drums, and Jeffrey V. Daniels (Burden) on guitar, DIE CHOKING’s ungodly fast, smoldering concoction of brutal punk mayhem, breakneck grindcore, and hectic raw metal has the trio quickly becoming known across the tri-state area through their recent widespread tour actions, and now beyond with their debut self-titled EP. Die Choking was recorded by Brutal Truth guitarist Dan O’Hare at his Mark It Zero Studios in New Jersey, and unloads five point-blank faceblasters in only five minutes and forty-four seconds. Following its initial digital release by the band in January, DIE CHOKING partnered with The Earsplit Compound’s label subfaction, The Compound, who will now unload the self-titled EP on vinyl, in a run of 300 copies on standard black wax with a high-gloss cover. The physical product will be transported to our barracks this weekend and will be immediately available. Place orders for the 7” via Earsplit Distro HERE.

Amidst other upcoming shows, including an in-store at Siren Records on April 4th, DIE CHOKING was hand-picked by Decibel Magazine founder Albert Mudrian to supply local support for the Philadelphia stop the publication’s third annual national tour now underway. Featuring Noisem, Gorguts, The Black Dahlia Murder and headliners, Carcass, the trek will invade the band’s hometown on April 12th at The Trocadero Theatre. More shows are currently being planned in preparation for the band’s second EP, recorded earlier this month once again with Dan O’Hare, which is coming together for release this Summer, and will continue as they begin to set up their debut LP late this year.

Currently in full-on tour hype mode, Decibel is running an exclusive interrogation with DIE CHOKING alongside a stream of the entire EP RIGHT HERE.

ENABLER: Second LP To See Spring Release Via The Compound/Creator-Destructor

enabler-153web [photo by Luke Mouradian]

Following recent broadcasts informing the public of ENABLER’s deadly revamped lineup and impending East Coast tour, the Midwest-based trio now expose the details on their anticipated second full-length release, La Fin Absolue Du Monde. Translated from French to signify “the absolute end of the world,” the title of the new album is yet another of the band’s works inspired by filmmaker John Carpenter, in this case in referencing his movie, Cigarette Burns. La Fin Absolue Du Monde was tracked with Shane Hotchstetler at Howl Street Recordings in Milwaukee (Expire, Northless) and mixed by Steve Austin (Today Is The Day) at his Austin Enterprises, and packs the band’s most diverse material to date into a thirty-six minute battering with fourteen tracks.

ENABLER has partnered with several close allies to wage this new battle in a collaborative strike. Proudly going to war as part of the La Fin Absolue Du Monde campaign are San Francisco-based Creator-Destructor Records as well as NYC-area-based The Compound. Creator-Destructor has released titles from The Funeral Pyre, Gypsyhawk, Heartsounds, VYGR and others in addition to the vinyl version of ENABLER’s 2012 debut LP, All Hail The Void, which came out on CD and digital platforms via Southern Lord. The Compound, the label faction of media/PR faction, The Earsplit Compound, unleashed ENABLER’s rabid 2013 Flies EP and is currently unloading physical versions of new releases from Godhunter, Cop Problem, Die Choking and others. La Fin Absolue Du Monde will see killer deluxe CD and vinyl pressings and will see North American release on May 27th, just one day after ENABLER marks their debut invasion of the annual Maryland Deathfest.

Stated founding guitarist/vocalist and chief songwriter, Jeff Lohrber, on the current state of ENABLER: “This record is one of the proudest moments of my recording career. It’s a record made by a full band, and it sounds like a band playing. That is something that is lost in modern recording and is slowly becoming a thing of the past in the modern world of music. I feel alienated by it and I’m pissed about it. I recommend turning everything all the way up while listening to it.”

Stand by for more info, tunes and preorders for La Fin Absolue Du Monde to be posted in the coming days. For now order Flies on CD/vinyl RIGHT HERE; European/international fans can order the vinyl HERE.

Over the past two years, ENABLER has followed their All Hail The Void LP with widespread touring of North America, Europe and Australia, and unloaded their Shift Of Redemption EP via Think Fast! Records and Flies EP via The Compound, both in 2013. The band’s first full-time drummer since the departure of Fall Out Boy’s Andy Hurley in 2012 is now realized with Ryan Steigerwald (The Ox King, Ringworm live/fill-in drummer) who joins bassist/vocalist Amanda Daniels and founding guitarist/vocalist Jeff Johrber. They’ll now take these new hymns of disapproval out on tour straight through the release of La Fin Absolue Du Monde and the rest of the year, beginning with a massive East Coast headlining run beginning April 10th. ENABLER will trek eastward on your, joining with The Compound labelmates, Cop Problem, at the sixteenth New England Metal & Hardcore Festival in Worcester, Massachusetts on April 17th, followed by four more shows together before ENABLER forges homeward. A plethora of newer shows through the Summer are also being confirmed, many of which are also listed below. Additional tours will be announced in the coming days.

Bearing the underlying subtitle, A Conversation Between Hope and Despair, the fifty-minute dust storm of groove-laden, resin-coated sludge metal intensity City Of Dust delivers the most concise, diverse, and infectious hymns from the politically-motivated Tucson, Arizona-based outfit to date. Through a brutally honest outcry the album boasts thought-provoking, thematic tirades against the governmental members and parties the residents who embody GODHUNTER feel are directly responsible for a wide array of vital societal issues affecting their home region, including equal rights, a widespread water shortage, immigration and more.

“Tales this morose and despondent need the occasional chaotic implosion, and Godhunter smear a canvas with ugly truth… one of 2014’s best albums. City of Dust is a structured and informed refusal of acceptance. In the sludge style, we rarely get this much substance.” – Heavy Planet

“From beginning to end, Godhunter tackles the political landscape of our time like they are prophets in the Thunderdome.” – Selective Memory

“The singer sounds like he just scraped his throat with hot lava. The guitars are at a level where the amplifiers do no longer smoke but melt.” – Lords of Metal

ENABLER Locks Tour To New England Metal & Hardcore Fest, Announces New Drummer And Album

ENBLR-154-Edit-3_web [photo by Luke Mouradian]

After several months off the grid, metallic punk radicals, ENABLER, now pledge full-on annihilation in 2014, today announcing their revamped lineup, a plethora of upcoming live actions, and the completion of their highly anticipated second LP.

Over the past two years, ENABLER has followed their massive Southern Lord debut LP, All Hail The Void LP, with widespread touring of North America, Europe and Australia, and unloaded both their four-song Shift Of Redemption EP via Think Fast! Records and six-song Flies EP via The Compound in 2013. Since the Autumn release of Flies, things with the band have been seemingly quiet on the public front, but the band has been working harder than ever behind-the-scenes, and now confirm that 2014 will be their most frantic and busy year yet, beginning with the announcement of their newest lineup. ENABLER officially confirms Ryan Steigerwald as their full-time drummer. Steigerwald previously hails from the Chicago band, The Ox King, in addition to having filled-in as Ringworm’s drummer for the past nine years, and now takes the throne as ENABLER’s first full-time skinsmasher since the departure of Fall Out Boy’s Andy Hurley in 2012.

Having already performed locally with the stripped-down new lineup — rounded out by bassist/vocalist Amanda Daniels and founding vocalist/guitarist Jeff Lohrber — ENABLER has also been secretly recording their latest material over the past few months, and just this week put the finishing touches on their second LP, which will see release later this year; detailed info will be available soon.

The band will tour harder than ever in 2014, the first major trek of the year now confirmed to embark on April 10th as the trio forges across the country on their way to rip shit up at the sixteenth annual New England Metal & Hardcore Festival in Worcester, Massachusetts on April 17th. On the opening evening of the gigantic festival, ENABLER will join The Compound labelmates, Philly’s d-beat activists, Cop Problem, as well as All That Remains, Bleeding Through, Broken Hope, Fallujah, Oceano, Scars of Tomorrow and others. From there, ENABLER and Cop Problem will share stages in four more cities before ENABLER forges homeward. Other standout spots on the tour include Skeletal Lightning Fest II in Champagne, Illinois, Forward Ohio Fest in Columbus and more.

Subsequent to the tour, ENABLER is already confirmed to perform at Pouzza Fest in Montreal this May, followed directly by their first time invading Maryland Deathfest in Baltimore, and No Tomorrow Fest in Appleton, Wisconsin, with their participation in at least three more major North American tours being confirmed for announcement in the coming weeks.

ENABLER’s Flies EP is is now available in a high-quality/eco-friendly digipak, as the first release for Earsplit’s new label sect, The Compound. With five crushing original tracks as well as a cover of Sepultura’s iconic “Arise” anthem, the EP showcases some of the band’s most grimly melodic angular riffs yet, as always incessantly inundated with instantly memorable hooks and the band’s cynical “fuck off” vibes, mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege (From Ashes Rise, Integrity, Tragedy, All Pigs Must Die). ENABLER and The Compound also licensed Flies to London-based Holy Roar Records who released the EP on massive 12” wax in two color schemes — black, or white splattered — both with a screen-printing of the cover art on the B-side.

Pick up Flies on CD or 12” wax via Earsplit Distro/The Compound RIGHT HERE and stream all of Flies at Revolver, HERE.

ENABLER And COP PROBLEM Added To New England Metal & Hardcore Fest

Milwaukee’s morose hardcore/punk outfit, ENABLER, and Philly’s activism-driven hardcore d-beaters, COP PROBLEM, have both been added to the opening night of this year’s installment of the massive New England Metal & Hardcore Festival, with a regional run of live dates being locked down flanking the gathering.

Just in time for the Spring thaw, these two infectious and aggravated acts will tackle a run of East Coast tour dates together surrounding their sets kicking off NEMHF 2014 on Thursday, April 17th, where ENABLER and COP PROBLEM will join that day’s lineup already including All That Remains, Bleeding Through, Broken Hope, Emmure, Fallujah, Gideon, Kublai Khan, Obey The Brave, Rivers of Nihil and Years Since The Storm, with more still to be announced. The full routing will be announced in the coming days, joined by an even more extensive tour itinerary for ENABLER as they plod their way to the Eastern Seaboard and back to the Midwest.

While ENABLER and COP PROBLEM have randomly shared the stage previously, this upcoming tour is the first official excursion the two will embark on together, as the band’s ties have been further tightened under the banner of Earsplit’s new label sect, THE COMPOUND. The emancipation of ENABLER’s Flies CDEP on Samhain 2013 marked the introductory title from THE COMPOUND, and now one of our next releases will be the 7” vinyl version of COP PROBLEM’s Buried Beneath White Noise EP in March.

With five crushing original tracks and a cover of Sepultura’s “Arise,” ENABLER’s Flies EP showcases some of the band’s most grim yet melodic and angular riffs yet, as always inundated infectious hooks and the band’s fully cynical “fuck off” vibes, mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege (From Ashes Rise, Integrity, Tragedy, All Pigs Must Die). The CD version is available directly from THE COMPOUND now via Earsplit Distro HERE. Flies was also licensed to London-based Holy Roar Records for a killer vinyl pressing available in three color schemes — standard black, clear with black splatter and one edition with a screen-printed B-side. In Europe place preorders HERE and in the US right HERE.

COP PROBLEM’s latest battle cry, Buried Beneath White Noise, is charged with the quartet’s most enraged anthems yet. The four new tracks devastate with white-knuckled percussive rolls, dynamic and devastating riffery, and a torrent of vocal fury in retaliation to the vast, daily injustices afflicting innocent life around the globe, engineered by Will Yip (Paint It Black, Circa Survive, Balance & Composure). The 7” pressing will be released in March through an international joint effort between British DIY label, Prejudice Me, for European territories, and THE COMPOUND for North America. Stay tuned for preorders and an official release date.
