DIE CHOKING Prepares To Shred Philly Stop Of Decibel Magazine Tour; Debut 7” Available For Preorder

diechoking_vitusheadbang

Annihilation is nigh, as the debut release from Philadelphia’s hypershredder trio, DIE CHOKING, prepares to break free from the internet’s restraints and into the human populous this week in a physical manifestation.

Featuring Paul J Herzog (ex-Total Fucking Destruction) on bass/vocals, Joshua T. Cohen (Cop Problem) on drums, and Jeffrey V. Daniels (Burden) on guitar, DIE CHOKING’s ungodly fast, smoldering concoction of brutal punk mayhem, breakneck grindcore, and hectic raw metal has the trio quickly becoming known across the tri-state area through their recent widespread tour actions, and now beyond with their debut self-titled EP. Die Choking was recorded by Brutal Truth guitarist Dan O’Hare at his Mark It Zero Studios in New Jersey, and unloads five point-blank faceblasters in only five minutes and forty-four seconds. Following its initial digital release by the band in January, DIE CHOKING partnered with The Earsplit Compound’s label subfaction, The Compound, who will now unload the self-titled EP on vinyl, in a run of 300 copies on standard black wax with a high-gloss cover. The physical product will be transported to our barracks this weekend and will be immediately available. Place orders for the 7” via Earsplit Distro HERE.

Amidst other upcoming shows, including an in-store at Siren Records on April 4th, DIE CHOKING was hand-picked by Decibel Magazine founder Albert Mudrian to supply local support for the Philadelphia stop the publication’s third annual national tour now underway. Featuring Noisem, Gorguts, The Black Dahlia Murder and headliners, Carcass, the trek will invade the band’s hometown on April 12th at The Trocadero Theatre. Less than two weeks after their Decibel Tour set, DIE CHOKING will hammer Western Pennsylvania ‘bangers in Pittsburgh on April 24th with The Compound labelmates, Enabler. More shows are currently being planned in preparation for the band’s second EP, recorded earlier this month once again with Dan O’Hare, which is coming together for release this Summer, and will continue as they begin to set up their debut LP late this year.

Currently in full-on tour hype mode, Decibel is running an exclusive interrogation with DIE CHOKING alongside a stream of the entire EP RIGHT HERE.

Also sample newly acquired visual evidence of the trio’s speedy rage via Metal Injection’s Pit Full Of Shit HERE.

ENABLER: Second LP To See Spring Release Via The Compound/Creator-Destructor

enabler-153web [photo by Luke Mouradian]

Following recent broadcasts informing the public of ENABLER’s deadly revamped lineup and impending East Coast tour, the Midwest-based trio now expose the details on their anticipated second full-length release, La Fin Absolue Du Monde. Translated from French to signify “the absolute end of the world,” the title of the new album is yet another of the band’s works inspired by filmmaker John Carpenter, in this case in referencing his movie, Cigarette Burns. La Fin Absolue Du Monde was tracked with Shane Hotchstetler at Howl Street Recordings in Milwaukee (Expire, Northless) and mixed by Steve Austin (Today Is The Day) at his Austin Enterprises, and packs the band’s most diverse material to date into a thirty-six minute battering with fourteen tracks.

ENABLER has partnered with several close allies to wage this new battle in a collaborative strike. Proudly going to war as part of the La Fin Absolue Du Monde campaign are San Francisco-based Creator-Destructor Records as well as NYC-area-based The Compound. Creator-Destructor has released titles from The Funeral Pyre, Gypsyhawk, Heartsounds, VYGR and others in addition to the vinyl version of ENABLER’s 2012 debut LP, All Hail The Void, which came out on CD and digital platforms via Southern Lord. The Compound, the label faction of media/PR faction, The Earsplit Compound, unleashed ENABLER’s rabid 2013 Flies EP and is currently unloading physical versions of new releases from Godhunter, Cop Problem, Die Choking and others. La Fin Absolue Du Monde will see killer deluxe CD and vinyl pressings and will see North American release on May 27th, just one day after ENABLER marks their debut invasion of the annual Maryland Deathfest.

Stated founding guitarist/vocalist and chief songwriter, Jeff Lohrber, on the current state of ENABLER: “This record is one of the proudest moments of my recording career. It’s a record made by a full band, and it sounds like a band playing. That is something that is lost in modern recording and is slowly becoming a thing of the past in the modern world of music. I feel alienated by it and I’m pissed about it. I recommend turning everything all the way up while listening to it.”

Stand by for more info, tunes and preorders for La Fin Absolue Du Monde to be posted in the coming days. For now order Flies on CD/vinyl RIGHT HERE; European/international fans can order the vinyl HERE.

Over the past two years, ENABLER has followed their All Hail The Void LP with widespread touring of North America, Europe and Australia, and unloaded their Shift Of Redemption EP via Think Fast! Records and Flies EP via The Compound, both in 2013. The band’s first full-time drummer since the departure of Fall Out Boy’s Andy Hurley in 2012 is now realized with Ryan Steigerwald (The Ox King, Ringworm live/fill-in drummer) who joins bassist/vocalist Amanda Daniels and founding guitarist/vocalist Jeff Johrber. They’ll now take these new hymns of disapproval out on tour straight through the release of La Fin Absolue Du Monde and the rest of the year, beginning with a massive East Coast headlining run beginning April 10th. ENABLER will trek eastward on your, joining with The Compound labelmates, Cop Problem, at the sixteenth New England Metal & Hardcore Festival in Worcester, Massachusetts on April 17th, followed by four more shows together before ENABLER forges homeward. A plethora of newer shows through the Summer are also being confirmed, many of which are also listed below. Additional tours will be announced in the coming days.

COP PROBLEM: Vinyl Preorders Of New EP Available From The Compound; NEMHF Tour With Enabler Confirmed

COPPROP-Live2013

South Philly punk/hardcore activists, COP PROBLEM, are becoming an underground powerhouse, through the releasing of prime material, diehard DIY touring, and their willingness to support socio-political and environmental causes and animal rights. On their second 7” EP, Buried Beneath White Noise, the band’s four new tracks devastate with the dueling thunder of guitarist Randon Martin and bassist George G, packed with white-knuckled percussive rolls and torrential d-beatings from drummer Joshua Cohen (Die Choking), all topped with a searing torrent of vocals from frontwoman Deb Cohen’s disparaging delivery, raging in the vein of Cloud Rat, Oathbreaker and All Pigs Must Die, and engineered by Will Yip (Paint It Black, Circa Survive, Balance & Composure).

Having seen digital release by COP PROBLEM in the Fall of 2013, the physical manifestation of this beast is now upon us, as the band joins with THE COMPOUND to release a killer 7” version of Buried Beneath White Noise on US turf, with British DIY label, Prejudice Me, handling European territories. The platters are at the plant and will be delivered in just over a week, in a deuce of color schemes. Not only will the planned black wax pressing of 300 copies exist, but an additional pressing of 200 copies of an experimental new color pattern is being put into production for a special pressing only COP PROBLEM and THE COMPOUND will be selling; the pressing melding a translucent dark green with Coke-bottle clear which the pressing plant has never done. Preorders for both the standard black and the “green thing” are available now via EARSPLIT DISTRO.

While COP PROBLEM stays quite active on the tour front on their own, the coming weeks will see them hit the road for a killer run with now-labelmates, Enabler. While COP PROBLEM and Enabler have randomly shared the stage previously, this upcoming tour is the first official excursion the two will embark on together, and both with new releases out on THE COMPOUND. COP PROBLEM will unite with Enabler’s then-ongoing tour to perform the opening night of this year’s New England Metal & Hardcore Festival in Worcester, Massachusetts on Thursday, April 17th, both bands joining All That Remains, Bleeding Through, Broken Hope, Darkest Hour, Emmure, Fallujah, Kublai Khan, Rivers of Nihil and more that evening. From there the two acts will crush through Lowell, Brooklyn, Rockaway and Philadelphia together before Enabler splits loose to continue back to the Midwest.

COP PROBLEM Tour Dates:
4/17/2014 The Palladium – Worcester, MA @ New England Metal & Hardcore Fest w/ Enabler
4/18/2014 The Worthen – Lowell, MA w/ Enabler, Matahari, Los Bungalitos
4/19/2014 Grand Victory – Brooklyn, NY w/ Enabler, Go Deep, Agitator
4/20/2014 Backroom Studios – Rockaway, NJ w/ Enabler, Ides, Hell Mary, Iron Born, Grit
4/21/2014 Kung Fu Necktie – Philadelphia, PA w/ Enabler, Outer Heaven

Bearing the underlying subtitle, A Conversation Between Hope and Despair, the fifty-minute dust storm of groove-laden, resin-coated sludge metal intensity City Of Dust delivers the most concise, diverse, and infectious hymns from the politically-motivated Tucson, Arizona-based outfit to date. Through a brutally honest outcry the album boasts thought-provoking, thematic tirades against the governmental members and parties the residents who embody GODHUNTER feel are directly responsible for a wide array of vital societal issues affecting their home region, including equal rights, a widespread water shortage, immigration and more.

“…the eight component tracks of the 49-minute album come across with staggering intensity despite what’s usually a fairly grueling pace. It is as much a multi-chapter sludgecore manifesto as it is a collection of memorably-riffed songs… they’ve presented a multifaceted and passionate foundation from which to progress… City Of Dust is more than just a sludge record”. – The Obelisk

“Tales this morose and despondent need the occasional chaotic implosion, and Godhunter smear a canvas with ugly truth… one of 2014’s best albums. City of Dust is a structured and informed refusal of acceptance. In the sludge style, we rarely get this much substance.” – Heavy Planet

“…you really feel the nihilistic tone in every word…This album is heavy as an elephant’s balls.” – Echoes And Dust

“What Godhunter do have in spades is riffs… this is only the beginning.” – The Sleeping Shaman

“The subtitle for City of Dust is ‘A Conversation Between Hope and Despair,’ and these words encompass the album’s themes of fear, despair, confusion, and yes, even a dash of hope.” – About.com

“If the results sound as fresh as they do on this local act’s full-length debut, the genre has some vitality left in it.” – Tucson Weekly

“From beginning to end, Godhunter tackles the political landscape of our time like they are prophets in the Thunderdome.” – Selective Memory

“The singer sounds like he just scraped his throat with hot lava. The guitars are at a level where the amplifiers do no longer smoke but melt.” – Lords of Metal

ENABLER Locks Tour To New England Metal & Hardcore Fest, Announces New Drummer And Album

ENBLR-154-Edit-3_web [photo by Luke Mouradian]

After several months off the grid, metallic punk radicals, ENABLER, now pledge full-on annihilation in 2014, today announcing their revamped lineup, a plethora of upcoming live actions, and the completion of their highly anticipated second LP.

Over the past two years, ENABLER has followed their massive Southern Lord debut LP, All Hail The Void LP, with widespread touring of North America, Europe and Australia, and unloaded both their four-song Shift Of Redemption EP via Think Fast! Records and six-song Flies EP via The Compound in 2013. Since the Autumn release of Flies, things with the band have been seemingly quiet on the public front, but the band has been working harder than ever behind-the-scenes, and now confirm that 2014 will be their most frantic and busy year yet, beginning with the announcement of their newest lineup. ENABLER officially confirms Ryan Steigerwald as their full-time drummer. Steigerwald previously hails from the Chicago band, The Ox King, in addition to having filled-in as Ringworm’s drummer for the past nine years, and now takes the throne as ENABLER’s first full-time skinsmasher since the departure of Fall Out Boy’s Andy Hurley in 2012.

Having already performed locally with the stripped-down new lineup — rounded out by bassist/vocalist Amanda Daniels and founding vocalist/guitarist Jeff Lohrber — ENABLER has also been secretly recording their latest material over the past few months, and just this week put the finishing touches on their second LP, which will see release later this year; detailed info will be available soon.

The band will tour harder than ever in 2014, the first major trek of the year now confirmed to embark on April 10th as the trio forges across the country on their way to rip shit up at the sixteenth annual New England Metal & Hardcore Festival in Worcester, Massachusetts on April 17th. On the opening evening of the gigantic festival, ENABLER will join The Compound labelmates, Philly’s d-beat activists, Cop Problem, as well as All That Remains, Bleeding Through, Broken Hope, Fallujah, Oceano, Scars of Tomorrow and others. From there, ENABLER and Cop Problem will share stages in four more cities before ENABLER forges homeward. Other standout spots on the tour include Skeletal Lightning Fest II in Champagne, Illinois, Forward Ohio Fest in Columbus and more.

Subsequent to the tour, ENABLER is already confirmed to perform at Pouzza Fest in Montreal this May, followed directly by their first time invading Maryland Deathfest in Baltimore, and No Tomorrow Fest in Appleton, Wisconsin, with their participation in at least three more major North American tours being confirmed for announcement in the coming weeks.

ENABLER’s Flies EP is is now available in a high-quality/eco-friendly digipak, as the first release for Earsplit’s new label sect, The Compound. With five crushing original tracks as well as a cover of Sepultura’s iconic “Arise” anthem, the EP showcases some of the band’s most grimly melodic angular riffs yet, as always incessantly inundated with instantly memorable hooks and the band’s cynical “fuck off” vibes, mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege (From Ashes Rise, Integrity, Tragedy, All Pigs Must Die). ENABLER and The Compound also licensed Flies to London-based Holy Roar Records who released the EP on massive 12” wax in two color schemes — black, or white splattered — both with a screen-printing of the cover art on the B-side.

Pick up Flies on CD or 12” wax via Earsplit Distro/The Compound RIGHT HERE and stream all of Flies at Revolver, HERE.
